I majored in mechanical engineering but could easily have chosen marketing instead. I've always been a big picture, blue sky thinker, and every personality test I’ve taken says I’m more artist than engineer.
My first job was with an international manufacturing corporation where I found that a creative spirit could be put to good use marketing strategic initiatives and investigating growth opportunities. Executive decision makers needed deeply technical concepts explained in clear terms, which was an incredible creative challenge.
From there, I continued to gravitate to roles that required a combination of strategic insights and long-term vision, eventually becoming the Commercial Key Account Manager for ABB's low voltage drives team. It was a newly created role, which meant there was a huge opportunity for the creative problem solving I love.
After graduating from Emory's MBA program, I started my own company, intending to leverage what I’d learned as an Executive Coaching Fellow to serve millennial women.
In the process of starting that company, I met a number of small business owners and startups who were struggling to clarify their brand messages. I started helping them implement what I’d learned about marketing and positioning, and eventually transitioned all my work to communications - developing marketing collateral and building presentations for small businesses and start ups.
Not so long ago one of my good friends mentioned an opening at his marketing agency where I could get more experience in traditional design and advertising. I jumped at the chance, and the rest is history.
I've spent the last decade slowly transforming from the engineer I thought I should be to the communicator I was made to be. So if you're looking for a strategic thinker with a mind built for logic and a heart designed for creativity, I'm your girl.
